Established in 1982 by a group of neighborhood women, Xiente has grown to address the comprehensive needs of the community, including affordable housing, community organizing, employment training, early childhood education, and youth development programs.

The Xiente Teen Center provides vital youth development opportunities, operating from 3 PM to 9 PM to engage teens in productive and educational activities. Additionally, the center serves as a safe haven for youth from 9 PM to 2 AM, offering support and services to those brought in by the police after curfew hours. This initiative ensures that young people have a secure environment where they can access essential resources and guidance during critical times.

About Workforce Readiness Coordinator

The Workforce Readiness Coordinator at Xiente facilitates group programs to empower individuals for economic mobility. This role includes coordinating workforce development initiatives, managing program logistics, and leading workshops and training sessions. Responsibilities also involve providing career guidance to teens and identifying student enrichment opportunities. The ideal candidate will have strong facilitation, communication, and organizational skills, with experience in workforce development and mentoring group activities.

Xiente is seeking a Workforce Readiness Coordinator for our Youth Take Action Program.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Program Director on strategic initiatives and the implementation of workforce readiness programs and activities.
  • Develop and implement an annual action plan for the Workforce Readiness Program, including setting year-end objectives, planning main activities, and creating assessment measures.
  • Develop and lead workshops and training sessions designed to enhance workforce readiness.
  • Contact and coordinate guest speakers from various professional fields to share career and college experiences with members.
  • Seek out certification programs, trade school scholarships, extension classes, youth exchanges, and community service opportunities for students.
  • Oversee program logistics, including events, data tracking, and training sessions.
  • Provide career and workforce opportunity guidance and exploration activities to teens as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, school staff, local businesses, and key stakeholders.
  • Manage projects, establish due dates, and ensure deliverables are met on time.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant progress, and outcomes.
  • Assess program effectiveness regularly and make recommendations for improvements to ensure the highest quality of service delivery.
  • Perform any other task required by the Director or Management that may be compatible with the purpose of the position.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in workforce or career development programs.
  • Experience navigating Philadelphia employment opportunities and supporting candidates in applying for and securing jobs.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact professionally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in workshop development and facilitation (required).
  • Experience mentoring youth workers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite and social media platforms.
  • Ability to analyze and use data to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to work autonomously, set direction, seek out answers, and produce results with minimal guidance.
  • Sensitivity to confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to secure clearance for PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History, FBI, and National Sex Offenders Clearance (required).
  • Possess or ability to secure a Driver’s License and insurance (preferred).
  • Ability to secure health clearances every two years and TB once (required).
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with the ability to see the big picture while managing small details.

Schedule of the Position: Monday to Friday from 10:00pm to 6:00pm.
