The MSAD60 school district is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual for the position of Part-Time EXCEL/Gifted & Talented Teacher. This role involves working with gifted students in the elementary grades to provide individualized support through both push-in and pull-out models. Responsibilities:- Curriculum Design and Implementation: Design and implement engaging and challenging curriculum tailored for gifted students in the elementary grades.- Differentiated Instruction: Modify instruction to meet the diverse needs of gifted learners, ensuring all students are appropriately challenged and supported.- Collaboration: Collaborate with other educators and specialists to support the overall academic development of gifted students, ensuring a holistic approach to their education.- Professional Development:Stay current with research and best practices in gifted education, continually seeking professional growth and development opportunities.- Neurodiversity Awareness: Demonstrate a desire to learn about neurodiversity and incorporate this understanding into teaching practices.- Advocacy: Be aware of and engage in gifted and talented advocacy work at both local and federal levels, promoting the needs and interests of gifted students.Requirements:- Regulatory Familiarity:Familiarity with Maine Chapter 104 Gifted & Talented regulations.- Certification: Hold or be willing to obtain Maine Gifted & Talented certification.- Experience: Demonstrated experience working with gifted students is preferred.- Communication Skills:Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with students, parents, and colleagues.- Organizational Skills:Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks efficiently.Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gifted and Talented Education or a related field.- Certification: Maine Gifted & Talented certification or willingness to obtain certification.- Experience: Experience working with gifted and talented students preferred.- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.Equal Opportunity Employer:The MSAD60 school district is an equal opportunity employer and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
