Position Summary

The Sourcing Leader will be responsible for managing all suppliers in the metals category for all sites in North America. This person will be the primary point of contact for suppliers for topics including price and terms negotiation, contract reviews, escalations, and all other supplier management related topics. The person will manage regular supplier business reviews to address overall supplier performance and improvement. This position reports to the Division Sourcing & Procurement Manager.

Responsibilities

Position Scope

To create and implement strategic Sourcing activities aimed at driving continuous improvement of Parker’s Total Cost of Ownership for all suppliers in the assigned category.

Essential Functions

• Manages the activities of the Division's purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment and/or services
• Establishes procedures to leverage the company’s position. Ensures purchasing strategy reflects the consistent utilization of local suppliers vs. Group strategic suppliers
• Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations
• Interviews, selects and negotiates with suppliers in response to material requirements/cost issues
• Ensures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and within department budgets
• Works with suppliers to develop and execute plans to achieve continuous improvement, quality, delivery, service and cost goals
• Identify and develop new suppliers to improve Total Cost of Ownership
• Support New Product Development through supporting sourcing activities
• Engage with key/critical suppliers within commodity group to develop relationships
• Act as point of escalation for buying teams to assist with supplier issues
• Participate and/or lead in High Performance Teams (HPT) as key member representing the supply chain function

Qualifications

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Materials Management required with certification in Supply Chain Management preferred
• Minimum of 4-6 years purchasing or supply chain related experience
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper process automation opportunities
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to negotiate in business-to-business scenarios
• Must have functional understanding of cost accounting and adapt to practical application
• Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices
