Responsible for assigning appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for the professional charges that include diagnoses, procedural and surgical.

The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.

• High school diploma or General Education Degree required
• One year coding experience or formal coding education is required
• CPC certification or any other Billing and coding certification is required
• Be able to make recommendations and handle complaints and requests in a professional and calm manner; Good communication skills and possess appropriate ability or skill set to take up roles and responsibilities on a pro-active basis; Confident with organizational ability; Knowledge of billing guidelines including governmental payers such as Medicare and Medicaid in addition to major insurance carriers; Knowledge of current CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines as they apply to the specialty; Knowledge of medical terminology.Skill in using medical billing computer systems; Skill in mathematical computation, keyboarding and organizing files; Ability to demonstrate a high level of problem solving skills.
