American Diabetes Association is Hiring a Senior Manager, Health Equity Near Arlington, VA

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is seeking a Senior Manager, Health Equity to support ADAs Eye Health Equity initiative. The Senior Manager will be relied on as a strategic partner to community-based organizations in the Washington DC/Baltimore, MD area. The Senior Manager will report to the Senior Vice President, Health Equity, and be responsible for coalition development, initiating and advancing grassroots and communications strategies, coordinating and implementing community outreach, provide awareness and education and support the coordination of participation/engagement with community partners at the Eye Health Equity Summit. This is a temporary 12-month position working part time (20- 25hrs/week) and must be based in the Washington, DC area.RESPONSIBILITIESIndividual contributor responsible for cultivating and creating relationships, and collaborating with community-based organizations, community influencers, health clinics and organizations, and other partners to implement and advance ADAs Eye Health Equity initiative. In addition to forming new relationships within the community, this person will collaborate with existing community partners.Strategic Summit event planning, event implementation, engagement with diverse stakeholders around event attendance, participation and follow up.Provide leadership as the key ADA point of contact and subject matter expert for the local community and region.Drive creative solutions and ideas informed by the community that will remove barriers to equitable health and advance access to quality careRepresent the ADA and ADA-led collaborations at local events and meetingsUtilize company assets to raise awareness of prediabetes and diabetes-related eye disease within the community, as well as support sustainable change at the individual and community levelOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree or equivalent experience in community engagement and impact, civic roles, community-based organizations, public health, health promotion, public relations, or related field3 years experience in community engagement and impact, civic roles, community-based organizations, public health, health promotion, public relations, or related field.Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is strongly preferredExceptional written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to recruit and mobilize volunteers and support Community Councils and Leadership Boards.In-depth understanding of local communitys strengths and opportunities; existing relationships with community leaders and ability to build those relationships.Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously.WHY WORK HEREThe American Diabetes Association (ADA) offers a rewarding career working for one of the premier voluntary health organizations in the world supporting people with type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.
