Assistant Professor of History- Lyon College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History positionbeginning in August 2024. All candidates should have their terminal degree. The History Department seeks candidates who specialize in any area of non-western history. The ability to teach a broad range of courses is necessary. Experience and/or interest inteaching core curriculum courses, World Civilization, and Historiography and the Historical Method is preferred. Additional responsibilities will include academic advising and service on college committees beginning in the second year. Candidates shoulddemonstrate an understanding of the distinctive nature of teaching at a small liberal arts college. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Lyon College is a private, selective liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It is located in Batesville, Arkansas, a safe and historic town of 11,000 that serves as commercial, medical, social, and governmental hub for an eight-county area and named by USA Today as the best city to live in in Arkansas. The College currently enrolls almost 600 undergraduate students from 29 states and 14 foreign countries. Entering freshmen have an average high school GPA of 3.7.
