Position: Community Manager

Part-time: 30 hours a week

Weekend availability required

Job Summary:

Spark Makerspace is a collaborative community workshop and learning center. We offer a unique and exciting work environment where you will have the opportunity to be a part of a community of makers who are passionate about creating and sharing their knowledge with others.

The Community Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a strong community of makers among members at Spark Makerspace.

The Community Manager will report to the Executive Director and will work with them, the Board of Directors, and the working committees of Spark, to develop and implement strategies for recruiting and onboarding new members, engaging and retaining current members, as well as identifying and addressing any issues or concerns within the community.

Additionally, the Community Manager will be responsible for creating a volunteer structure that engages our members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Foster Community Spirit: Be the driving force in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Act as the main point of contact for members and volunteers, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and part of the Spark family.
• Volunteer Management: Develop and oversee a vibrant volunteer program that encourages member participation and contribution. Recruit, train, and support volunteers, recognizing their vital role in the community and ensuring their continued engagement and satisfaction.
• New Member Onboarding: Implement an effective onboarding process for new members, making their transition into the community smooth and welcoming. Facilitate introductions, mentorships, and integration activities to build a strong sense of belonging from the start.
• Plan and coordinate events and other community-building activities.
• Monitor and respond to email, social media, and other online platforms to keep the community informed and engaged.
• Identify and address any issues or concerns within the community.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• An extroverted individual that enjoys personal interactions and excels at creating a welcoming environment.
• Experience in community management or a related field.
• Familiarity with Google Drive, Google Meet, and other commonly used organizational technologies.
• Positive, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
• Passion for making and a commitment to supporting the local maker community.
• Familiar with DEI principles and practices, and committed to actively supporting and promoting diversity and inclusivity initiatives.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour
