What You Will Do

  • Research in the fields of communication protocols, low latency communication and artificial intelligence for the physical layer
  • Develop new transmission schemes, protocols and cross-layer optimizations for contributing to relevant standardization bodies
  • Implement prototypes involving machine learning techniques to optimize for latency, reliability and energy efficiency

The scientific work offers the possibility of a doctorate.

What You Bring To The Table

  • Master or PhD degree in Communications/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar fields
  • Very strong academic background with emphasis on machine learning, communication protocols and LTE/5G PHY layer procedures
  • Experience with HARQ, NR V2X, WIFI and unlicensed access are nice-to-have
  • Strong theoretical understanding and the ability to transfer theoretical knowledge to practical approaches
  • Creative thinking and interest for novel technologies
  • Experience with standardization bodies, especially 3GPP RAN1/RAN2, is an advantage
  • Excellent programming skills, e.g. in C , or script languages, e.g. Python or Matlab
  • Strong research potential and publication record
  • Good communication skills and teamwork spirit
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic about future of communications
  • Willingness to travel
  • Excellent spoken and written English

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
