Role Overview
Forming a key part of our UK & Europe Growth / Business Development team, this role will have a focus on developing large-scale commercial opportunities for our agencies in the German market, working proactively to generate new business leads and build networks within target clients, while also leveraging the existing client relationships and network of the group. This position will play a key role in our continued growth plans for our footprint in Germany.
Key Responsibilities
- Working alongside the Growth Officers, build out meaningful prospect lists and an associated outreach and long term engagement programme, turning connections into relationships
- Proactive business development outreach with Senior level Marketing, Procurement, and Leadership Executives to increase external awareness of the Worldgroup brand and capabilities
- Act as a strategic partner to the agency CEOs and Senior Leadership teams, working in collaboration to understand and leverage existing relationships and identifying new contacts
- Working in partnership with German leadership team to develop credentials, presentations and other marketing collateral as may be required
- Working in partnership with internal teams across content creation, PR, and Social Media to build out engaging marketing collateral for outreach, as well as networking events and thought leadership
- Working closely with the PR and Social teams to synchronise PR and reputation activity with new business activity and event calendars
- Working in collaboration with the agency’s senior leadership to enable conversion of prospects, able to pass over ownership at the appropriate time while also ensuring follow up
- Cross-country collaboration with Growth counterparts for other MW European markets, ensuring a cohesive approach to target clients
- Building and maintaining commercial awareness of the German business market and competitor landscape
- Managing, recording, tracking and maintaining all contacts on Salesforce and using this to drive engagement and keep in touch etc.
- Involvement in the wider new business process once prospecting work has created an opportunity including and not limited to, RFI and RFP management, pitch presentations, pitch management and commercial negotiations
Required Experience, Behaviours And Skills
- Native-level German speaker, with exceptional understanding of the German business landscape and a wide range of market verticals across both B2B and B2C
- Fluent business English, both spoken and written, is mandatory
- Ideally, previous experience working in either professional services, management consultancy, or marketing / advertising
- Highly experienced Senior Business Development Executive, with a solid track record of consultative selling to Germany’s largest and most successful companies
- A proven hunter who can create, establish and build long-term relationships with a broad spectrum of senior executives across numerous industry verticals
- Tenacious, persistent, and able to build authentic relationships with senior stakeholders and create meaningful conversations with prospects, leading to creation of large scale commercial opportunities (€1m revenue)
- Self-starter – able to work autonomously to build out a growth strategy, while drawing on support of local agency resource in the market, and EMEA wide group resource for support
- A long-term focus – able to demonstrate patience, resilience, and a positive mindset to establish and nurture relationships over time, sometimes from a cold start
- Outstanding written and presentation skills, and able to build compelling narratives and decks
- This role is hybrid, centring around presence in our key locations in Berlin, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Hamburg
- Technologically savvy with experience of Salesforce (ideally) and / or other CRM platforms and marketing databases, plus LinkedIn Sales Navigator and MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
