We are creating a new department focused on geospatial analytics in our offices in Munich. This team is specialized in cutting-edge analytics for satellite data developing large-scale machine learning pipelines run on distributed systems.


Our algorithm combines several methods, from deep learning, to custom ML algorithms, and basic statistics. We carefully engineer our methodology to ensure generalization across geographies, robustness, and explainability.


At the core of our product is the proprietary deforestation detection algorithm which monitors thousands of farms every day. We are looking for experts in Geospatial Data Science / Remote Sensing Researchers.


Your Responsibilities:


On your typical day, you will:


  • Design and implement geospatial analytics using state-of-the-art deep learning techniques and statistics
  • Research cutting-edge methods from Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence and apply them to remote sensing
  • Engineer and operationalize prototype-stage methods to full-blown enterprise-grade production systems
  • Analyze, interpret, and monitor performance from production data analytics pipelines
  • Translate customer requests and complex regulatory requirements into a algorithmic, data-driven solution
  • Shape the product and technology roadmap considering your experience in data science and satellite technology


Projects you might take over are:


  • Use masked autoencoder techniques based to enhance generalization and data efficiency
  • Improve change detection in time-series image data using supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning methods
  • Fuse multiple satellite modalities such as SAR, optical, and LIDAR in a streamlined data pipeline to enable near-real-time monitoring


Your Experience:


  • Advanced Remote Sensing Expertise: Distinguished career in cutting-edge remote sensing technology, with demonstrated success navigating the dynamic tech stack and agile methodologies of innovative startups
  • Multi-Sensor Data Mastery: Extensive project experience leveraging diverse data sources including optical imagery, multi-band SAR, and LiDAR for comprehensive environmental analysis
  • Exceptional Quantitative Foundation: Intuitive grasp of advanced mathematical concepts including statistical modeling, optimization techniques, linear algebra applications, and algorithmic efficiency
  • Production-Grade Development Skills: Proven ability to architect, implement, and maintain robust, scalable code (python) that meets enterprise standards while solving complex analytical challenges
  • Specialized Environmental Application Experience: Valuable background in critical sustainability domains such as deforestation monitoring, forest management, carbon sequestration measurement, supply chain emissions analysis, or precision agriculture technologies
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus
