We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual for the role of Bioprocess Engineer Trainee (IEFP Internship) in our dynamic team. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the development, optimization and scale-up of bioprocesses, ensuring the efficient production of valuable compounds using microorganisms. What's the Job?
As a Bioprocess Engineer Trainee (IEFP Internship) at SilicoLife, you will be deeply involved in both theoretical and lab work:
- Design and Optimize Bioprocesses: Provide technical support to develop new precision fermentation processes, including preparation of cell banks, generating inocula and running fermentation trials, from mL scale trials in shake-flasks to trials in fully controlled bioreactors (bench-scale). The work will also require preparing cultivation media and processing samples.
- Scale-Up Production: Support efforts to scale up fermentation and bioprocessing activities from the laboratory to pilot and production scales in collaboration with 3rd parties/partners.
- Bioreactor Operation: Oversee the operation and maintenance of bioreactors and other relevant equipment. Monitor and control key process parameters to maximize product yield and quality.
- Process Development: Contribute to improve bioprocessing techniques and strategies, implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity, yield, and sustainability.
- Data Analysis: Collaborate with our bioanalysis teams to analyze process data, identify trends, and integrate data-driven insights into process optimization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including strain engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, and modeling, to achieve project objectives.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in relevant field (Biological Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology or equivalent)
- Eligible for IEFP Internship program (exclusion criteria)
- Hands-on experience in microbiology and bioprocess development, including media preparation, aseptic techniques, inocula generation, bioreactor handling, process control and monitoring
- Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to participate in multiple projects simultaneously
- Great written and verbal English language skills at a level consistent with professional communications
Preferred:
- Familiarity with HPLC for sample analysis
