This position offers a ground-floor opportunity to enter the Private Equity industry, with the possibility to be promoted to Investment Analyst, subject to performance.

 

Morphosis Capital is one of the most active private equity investors on the Romanian market, managing two funds with a cumulated value of EUR 150 million, that aims to provide growth capital to entrepreneurial companies with the potential to scale and thus create a national leader. In the past 5 years, Morphosis made 9 investments in high-growth Romanian and Bulgarian companies and 3 exits. The combined portfolio generated an average annual increase in revenues of more than 45% CAGR in the past 4 years. In the following years, Morphosis is looking to make several new investments and is searching for an intern who will help to identify, analyze, and execute deals.


We become significant shareholders in every investment, thus, together with the management of each company we are accountable for the growth strategy and delivering the plan and investment returns. Because of that, we try to build our market analysis and financial models in a pragmatic, down-to-earth, and rational manner, and also with a dose of prudence. You will gain exposure to all aspects of the investment process, from research needed to understand the market dynamics and competition, to company valuation, and business plans, analyzing comparable investments made by other European private equity funds, and participating in discussions with the entire Morphosis team about the potential of each company and growth strategy. You will learn to think of every potential investment from the position of a shareholder and a manager at the same time: What is the best growth strategy? What management team do I need to put in place? Can I gain significant market share from existing competitors? Am I paying the right price for this company? Who do I sell the business 4-5 years from now?


Responsibilities

  • Research and identify attractive companies based on Morphosis’s investment criteria;
  • Research market trends and industry dynamics specific to each investment opportunity;
  • Participate in preparing business plans and financial models considering the growth strategy of each company;
  • Participate in in-depth valuations (Enterprise Value and Equity Value), mainly based on EBITDA multiple;
  • Research comparable transaction multiples used as a benchmark for valuation;
  • Participate in weekly meetings, and discuss potential pipeline opportunities with the entire team;
  • Assist the Investment Team with different analysis for Portfolio companies.

 

Qualifications

  • CFA graduate or CFA candidate – constitutes an advantage;
  • Advanced studies with a history of strong academic performance in Corporate Finance, Accounting, Strategy, or equivalent in a top business/engineering school or university;
  • Previous experience ideally in M&A, Finance, or management consulting is considered a plus;
  • Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Strong analytical abilities and a keen interest in entrepreneurship, investments, and Private Equity;
  • Knowledge in Excel modelling and company valuations;
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail, a tenacious attitude towards research with the ability to think independently;
  • Convincing interpersonal skills and credibility; collaborative team player and pro-active self-starter;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • The Investment Intern will be coordinated by the Associates, Investment Managers and Director, but will work directly with the entire Morphosis team.
