Job Description: Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) (A1 Construction Contract – Singapore)
Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and monitor Workplace Safety, Health, and Environmental (WSHE) programs in compliance with company policies and Singapore’s WSH Act.
· Advise project management on risk assessment, control measures, and compliance with WSHE regulations.
· Conduct site inspections, audits, and investigations, ensuring corrective actions are taken to maintain a safe work environment.
· Prepare and submit WSHE reports, including weekly and monthly updates to corporate management, developers, and consultants.
· Organize and conduct safety briefings, training sessions, and emergency drills to promote a strong safety culture.
· Manage and liaise with relevant authorities on safety matters, inspections, and compliance issues.
· Supervise and mentor junior safety personnel, ensuring best practices are upheld across project sites.
· Ensure implementation and effectiveness of the permit-to-work system and all relevant WSHE plans, including Noise Management, Fall Prevention, and Lifting Plans.
· Handle public safety concerns, site disruptions (e.g., noise, dust, traffic), and resident/neighborhood feedback.
· Act as Secretary for the WSHE Committee, leading monthly meetings and safety promotion activities.
· Oversee subcontractor compliance with WSHE regulations and issue corrective actions or penalties as necessary.
· Perform duties as a Fire Safety Manager, including emergency response planning and fire drills.
· Serve as Safe Management Officer (SMO), ensuring compliance with Safe Worksite Criteria and responding to non-compliance issues.
Requirements:
· Registered WSH Officer with the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Singapore.
· Minimum Specialist Diploma in Safety, Health, and Environment.
· At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
· Strong knowledge of WSHE legislation, regulations, and risk management.
· Certifications in Lifting Supervision, Scaffold Erection, Confined Space Assessment, Hazardous Substances, and Noise & Vibration Control are preferred.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and enforce safety compliance effectively.
