The A*STAR’s National Metrology Centre (NMC) is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. NMC is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, self-motivated, and innovative research scientist with excellent interpersonal skills to join our multi-disciplinary team.

Successful candidate will support research efforts in flow metrology technology for Mass, Flow and Mechanical (MFM) cluster. He/she shall be able to perform independent research and solve challenging problems together with a team of metrologists and scientists for supporting a competent and internationally recognized Singapore national measurement infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in flow metrology technology with a focus in low carbon fuels for bunkering.
  • Contribute to the accurate realisation of the flow measurement standard and advancement in quantification of low carbon fuels.
  • Identify and implement innovative methodologies or technologies to improve flow measurement techniques.
  • Contribute to chemical gas measurement and analysis for hydrogen production process using ammonia combustion/cracking.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and scientist, students attached and support training programmes related to flow metrology technology.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists and metrologists, to address research challenges in both quantity and safety in low carbon fuels for bunkering.
  • Publish research findings in prestigious journals and present at international conferences.

Job Requirement

  • PhD in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, mechanical engineering, applied physics or metrology.
  • Strong expertise in flow metrology or quantification of low carbon fuels.
  • Familiarity with flow meter technologies or related quantity measurement systems is a plus.
  • A track record of publications demonstrating expertise and contributions in relevant areas would be advantageous.
  • Highly proactive, self-motivated, capable of independently planning and executing research projects.
  • Excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
