Workplace Safety and Health Officer

Position: Workplace Safety and Health Officer

Contract Duration: 2 Years

Work Schedule: 5 days a week (may require weekend activation for urgent matters)

Salary: Up to $4,000

Location: Northeast & East Singapore

Job Responsibilities:

Safety Management & Compliance:

• Develop and implement workplace safety policies in line with government regulations and company standards.
• Ensure compliance with WSH legislation through audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure statutory compliance and conduct regular site inspections.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Management:

• Oversee risk assessments for all work activities and implement mitigation strategies.
• Work with project teams to ensure safe practices are observed and risk assessments are completed before starting new projects.
• Develop mechanisms for staff and contractors to report hazards and proactively address safety risks.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:

• Lead investigations into workplace incidents, near-misses, and safety complaints, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Report incidents and occupational diseases to authorities and ensure preventive measures are implemented.

Training & Development:

• Design and deliver safety training programs on protocols, emergency response, and regulatory requirements.
• Organize regular safety briefings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
• Develop and update training materials for new hires and refresher courses for existing employees.

Continuous Improvement & Safety Culture:

• Drive initiatives to build a positive safety culture, encouraging employees to take ownership of safety practices.
• Analyze safety data to identify trends and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with departments to integrate safety considerations into everyday operations and decision-making.

Emergency Preparedness & Response:

• Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire safety, evacuation, and first aid procedures.
• Conduct regular emergency drills and work with response teams to assess readiness.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Have a Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) certification.
• Experience as a Fire Safety Manager, ISO Lead Auditor will be advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in WSH, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of WSH regulations and standards.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to advocate for safety.
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities for risk management and incident investigation.
