About the Role

The Senior Project Leader is responsible for the development, conduct and completion of research projects in accordance with the reasonable requirements of Client for assigned projects. The Senior Project Lead is responsible for all aspects of study management activities including cross functional team leadership and co-ordination, Client communication/ management, financial management and Overall study delivery. Senior Project Leader must ensure studies are resourced effectively, managed efficiently, achieve project objectives within allocated budgets and agreed timelines and are conducted to the highest standards of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). May be responsible for delivery and management of larger global studies. Manage independently or with support from Portfolio Delivery Leads or Line Manager. The Senior Project Leader mentors/coaches Junior Project Management staff or Clinical Delivery Leads and assists their technical development.

Your Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate the feasibility planning & selection process, Manage and co-ordinate the study during startup, execution and closure stages
  • Manage the planning & set-up of investigator meetings; prepare presentation material & present information at these meetings
  • Manage the project to ensure Data quality, accuracy, completeness and timeliness
  • Ensure the study is conducted in accordance with study protocol and procedures manual, applicable regulatory requirements, local ethics committee requirements and ICH-GCP guidelines
  • Participate in the scheduled project meetings or teleconferences with the staff in the organization
  • Ensure effective communication is maintained with all investigators, site staff, study staff and the operational and cross functional team
  • Establish and maintain a culture focused on high performance and continuous improvement within project team
  • Model and inspire understanding and adherence to the values of the organisation
  • Provide clear guidance to functional leads or other staff on project specific deliverables.
  • Attend, lead and actively participate in project internal and client meetings.
  • Ensure project managers understand all aspects of their project finance responsibilities and follow appropriate escalation pathways, including Vendor finances
  • Maintain project utilization, revenue forecast and recognition identify and implement strategies for improvement (if required) and escalate any significant concerns to management
  • Review forecasts for all allocated projects in consultation with each allocated project manager, as needed, during month end billing and Project Finance Analyst meetings at least every quarter and develop contingency plans to address any project slippage
  • Initiate and maintain high level relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including trial sponsor staff, key opinion leaders, hospitals, professional societies and associations where required.
  • Review and contribute to all scope change proposals for allocated projects prior to finalisation and sponsor review
  • Provide technical advice and suggestions for process improvement to other areas of Emerald Clinical as required
  • Participate in bid defence presentations in partnership with Business Development and may lead the presentation for regional/ global studies.
  • In the event of an audit and/or inspection work with key project team members to ensure inspection/audit readiness and complete follow-up for all team members
  • Issue escalation point for all significant issues related to allocated projects, report and escalate identified issues in areas of responsibility according to Emerald Clinical and/or project requirements

About You

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in pharmacy, medical, nursing, biological science, or other health-related disciplines preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Relevant work experience recommended for this role may be approximately Nine (9) years of industry experience; prior CRA and Project Management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred and will be an advantage
  • Experience managing single or different regions, working across different therapeutic indications (esp Renal and/or Oncology), managing full service studies, worked across early phase to Late phases of clinical trial, is preference
  • Previous exposure to client-facing interactions and/or client management, Project finance management experience in CRO preferred
  • Displays high competence in the following technical areas: project management, regional or global study management, finance management, risk management, quality management, vendor management and issue escalation management.
  • Demonstrate high competence in the following skill areas: negotiation and conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision making, and strategic thinking. Ability and willingness to travel.
