Job Description
Be a key team member in a growing department within the school
Plan and prepare courses and lessons so that effective teaching takes place within the classroom for EAL learners across the school
Teach according to the educational needs of the pupils across age and ability ranges
Develop pupils language and confidence in using English in an educational setting
Promote the use of Information Technology within the curriculum;
Set and mark pupils’ work and keep a record of pupils’ performance as is required for internal assessment
Advise non-specialist teachers on the best techniques to use with EAL learners.
Report through reports the progress, attainments and efforts of the pupils in accordance with agreed School policy
Assist in the production of reports and testimonials as needed from time to time during the year
Be an advocate for EAL by developing new courses, teaching methods and materials as is appropriate;
Take care of the teaching resources that are made available as well as advising on the purchase and development of further materials that will have a direct impact on students
Person specification
The candidate should hold a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Education or equivalent, which is obtained from a recognised University or College involving not less than 3 years full time study
At least 2 – 5 years relevant professional teaching experience
IB courses and training are highly valued at the appropriate level
Knowledge of or willingness to acquire knowledge of inquiry based learning
A commitment to the safeguarding of students
Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all children through classroom organization, differentiation and learning strategies
Actively integrate existing and new technology into the classroom experience to enhance and extend the learning of students
Be an excellent classroom practitioner
Experience of communicating effectively with a school community
International experience is desirable
Experience working within a specialist EAL and SEND provision
Experience of/and or leadership training within a school context is favourable
