My client company is looking for a bending operator that is responsible for operating and maintaining machines that bend or shape metal or other materials into specific forms or angles.
Job Responsibilities
1. Machine Operation:
Set up and operate bending machines such as press brakes, tube benders, or CNC bending machines.
Adjust machine settings like speed, pressure, and angle to meet the specifications for the required bend.
Ensure that the correct dies or tools are used for the job.
2. Material Handling:
Select and load materials (typically metal sheets, rods, or tubes) into the machine.
Measure and cut the materials to the correct size before bending.
Inspect the material for defects before starting the bending process.
3. Quality Control:
Check and verify the bend angle and dimensions of the material after each bend to ensure they meet engineering specifications.
Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges to ensure accuracy.
Perform visual checks for surface defects or imperfections.
4. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on the bending machines to ensure they are operating efficiently.
Troubleshoot and address machine malfunctions or inaccuracies during the bending process.
Keep the work area clean and organized, ensuring the machines are in good working order.
5. Blueprint and Technical Drawing Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, or work orders to understand the specifications for the bend.
Follow specific instructions on angles, radius, and types of bends required.
6. Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents or injuries while operating bending machines.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety goggles, and ear protection.
Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
