Senior Project Director, Life Sciences
Our client is currently searching for an experienced Senior project Director, Life Sciences
to join the Project Management & Construction team responsible for the build and delivery of a range of projects.
Our client is the Asia-Pacific’s largest pan-regional pure-play life science, innovation and R&D real estate platform. The platform focuses on investing, acquiring, developing, constructing, managing, and operating real estate projects in fast-growing life sciences, innovation and R&D real estate markets in Asia-Pacific. The company operates within two main segments – a high-barrier-to-entry life sciences project construction management business and a specialized investment management business. Since the 2000s, the project construction management business has worked on over 200 projects in Asia-Pacific for more than 100 blue-chip life sciences and pharmaceutical companies, with many repeat clients.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- As the overall leader of the construction team, the Senior Project Director takes ultimate accountability for successful delivery of the project from a Safety, Quality, Time and Cost perspective.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Client, designers, subcontractors, building officials, local businesses, and authorities.
- To drive an un-compromising culture of safety and quality throughout the project workforce and lead by example.
- Work with the COO to develop the project execution strategy and provide leadership and guidance to the project team in delivering the project in accordance with the execution strategy.
- Work in close collaboration with the Engineering design management and design consultants to ensure the design incorporates constructability, construction methodology and value engineering considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end construction process for the manufacturing and research facilities, from construction, execution, project management and commissioning.
- Oversee on large ADC construction project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry regulations.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to optimize the project execution.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure all construction activities comply with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), FDA, EMA, OSHA, and other industry regulations.
- Manage risk assessments, validation protocols, and safety measures related to ADC-specific construction requirements.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams, to align construction goals with operational needs.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with construction firms, vendors, and suppliers.
Budget & Resource Management
- Develop and monitor project budgets, cost estimates, and financial forecasts to optimize efficiency and cost control.
- Ensure proper resource allocation, including labour, materials, and equipment, to meet project milestones.
Construction Quality & Safety
- Implement best practices in construction project management, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and quality control checks to maintain high standards in facility construction.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- 20 years of experience in project & construction management within the life sciences, biopharmaceutical.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering GMP-regulated life sciences construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of facility design for API or Bio production facility construction, containment strategies, and cleanroom construction.
- Experience managing large-scale capital projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and contractor oversight
- Familiarity with industry regulations, including FDA, EMA, GMP, and OSHA standards.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification.
- Experience with high-potency API (HPAPI) facility and biomedical facility construction.
