Senior Executive, Faculty and Research

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) offered the first Materials Engineering degree in Singapore under the division of Materials Engineering in 1991. With the increasing demand for materials engineers, the division was subsequently elevated to a full-fledged engineering school in 2000. The school of Materials Engineering (MSE) now stands as one of the world's largest Materials Engineering departments.

This role is responsible for assisting the Office of the Associate Chair (Faculty) and Associate Chair (Research) in the faculty as well as research staff related matters.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Handle non-tenure track structured faculty appointments and re-appointments.
    • Assisting the manager in handling the end-to-end process of faculty appointment and re-appointment.

  • Assist the annual faculty performance appraisal exercise.
    • Assist in coordination the annual faculty performance appraisal process, ensuring timely completion and adherence to institutional policies and procedures.

  • Assist the faculty promotion & tenure (P&T) exercise.
    • Assist the manager in coordinating the faculty promotion and tenure process, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

  • Assist NAP & NRF Fellowship recruitment.
    • Assist the manager in coordinating the end-to-end process of NAP & NRF Fellowship recruitment.

  • Assist in the preparation of faculty nomination for local and international awards.
    • Assist the manager in collaborating with faculty nominees to gather necessary documentation and ensure timely submission of award nominations.

  • Handle appointments and re-appointments and other admin matters for research staff
    • Working with the research manager, NSS-HR, and HRBP to facilitate the appointment and re-appointment of research staff.

Requirements
  • A recognized degree in Engineering / Science with minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in the administration in an Institute of Higher Learning.
  • Extensive experience working with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in career services with an Institute of Higher Learning.
  • Knowledge of Project Management.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and systems thinking.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Efficient problem solver.
  • Competent in-service delivery and relationship management.
  • Ability to multitask under given timelines.
  • Possess initiative, able to work as a team player.
  • Meticulous and attention to detail, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders, as well as interacting with people of varying levels and backgrounds.
