Assistant Curator (Design and Art) (Contract)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research and contribute to scholarship on present-day contemporary visual art and design globally, with a focus on practices in Singapore, Southeast Asia and Asia, so as to support institutional policies and goals on collection building, presentation and programming.
• Work with Curator to develop research and writing on transdisciplinary practices at the intersection of contemporary visual art and design, in Singapore and internationally.
• Coordinate and produce content, programming, and exhibitions related to the above research.
• Liaise with external and internal parties, including artists, curators, designers, writers, exhibition vendors, museum staff and stakeholders from related departments and agencies.
• Foster professional networks with contemporary artists, design communities, and partners.
• Schedule, plan, and execute related programmes such as lectures, talks, and workshops, as well as prepare content for collaterals such as website and publicity materials.
• Manage, supervise, and administer projects, processes, and procedures under his/her responsibility, including budget tracking and reporting in a timely and accurate manner, improving workflows and processes as needed.
• Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required.

REQUIREMENTS

• A graduate degree in contemporary art, art history, design, visual cultures, or related fields, or a degree with at least five years of work experience in visual arts and/or design
• Relevant research and experience in curation, collections and exhibitions preferred
• Keen interest in and knowledge of contemporary art and design practices locally, regionally, and globally
• Excellent research, writing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in English. Additional language abilities would be ideal
• Motivated and team-oriented
• Good project management and organisational skills
• Attentive to details and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
