Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and support procurement excellence by driving procurement best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Lead change management and process improvement to reduce non-value-added activities by engaging stakeholders, challenging the status quo, and providing thought leadership.
  • Perform data analytics efforts to analyze procurement data, identify trends, drive insights, support reporting, and develop dashboards.
  • Support supplier onboarding activities to ensure smooth integration and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policy, procedures, and processes.
  • Support the professional services category, including areas such as insurance, travel, HR services, and other key services.
  • Support the development and execution of professional services strategies to align with organizational needs and market trends.
  • Support procurement transformation efforts to enhance processes and adopt best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Basic Requirements
    • Minimum 8 years of experience in category procurement.
    • Proven expertise in managing indirect procurement and services categories.
    • Hands-on experience with procurement platforms, such as SAP and Ariba, including familiarity with Source-to-Contract (S2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and Supplier Lifecycle & Performance (SLP) processes.
    • Proven knowledge of data analytics, with knowledge of PowerBI required.
    • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities for managing competing priorities effectively.
    • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across diverse teams.
    • Strategic thinking focused on driving innovation and continuous improvement.
    • Proactive, results-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Preferred requirements but not mandatory
    • Certification in Ariba or related procurement software.
    • Proven experience in professional services and stakeholder management.
    • Familiarity with data migration, especially commodity codes.

Candidates who do not possess the stipulated qualifications but have relevant work experience may still apply. Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience. SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
