Bovine mastitis in milking cows is a major challenge in the dairy industry, leading to significant economic losses. Current preventative solutions, using antiseptic teat dips, often rely on harsh chemicals that are ineffective in farm conditions and may irritate animals. We are developing a safe, sustainable, and eco-friendly antimicrobial solution that is effective against a broad range of mastitis-causing bacteria. Our technology has shown promising results to address this critical unmet need in animal health.
We are currently recruiting a Research Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team led by Prof Paula Hammond, focused on developing novel solutions for bovine mastitis.
The candidate will evaluate the safety and efficacy of novel antimicrobial compounds in vitro and in a farm trial. The candidate will also support daily administrative duties in the laboratory as well as any other tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator.
The Research Engineer will support ongoing research projects by evaluating the safety and efficacy of novel antimicrobial compounds through in vitro and ex vivo assays, including intracellular infection models.
The candidate will also support farm trial activities and contribute to general lab management and operations.
Interested applicants are invited to send in their full CV/resume, cover letter and list of three references (to include reference names and contact information). We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
