About The Role

As a Data Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting the organisation’s data architecture, ensuring efficient and secure data flow. You will work with large datasets and tools like AWS, Azure, and Fabric to transform raw data into actionable insights. The role focuses on maintaining high data quality, precision, and efficiency while identifying business process challenges and creating innovative solutions.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Data Specialist, you will play an integral part in designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting our organisation’s data architecture. You will ensure that data flows efficiently and securely from source to destination. You will work with massive datasets, databases, and powerful tools like AWS, Azure and Fabric to transform raw data into insightful, actionable information. Your focus will be on maintaining high data quality, ensuring precision, and driving efficiency. By diving deep into business processes, you will identify challenges and create innovative solutions, all while shaping clean, well-organised databases and architectures.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, construct, maintain, and troubleshoot data architecture.
• Develop effective storage solutions that can handle large amounts of data in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collect and collate data from multiple sources including the training management system, ensuring its accuracy and integrity when stored.
• Write code to automate processes and leverage machine learning algorithms to detect patterns or anomalies in data.
• Ensure that all data is stored securely and investments in security measures are made and regularly maintained.
• Create custom software applications, design data warehouses, and develop ETL pipelines.
• Work closely with management and teams to understand their needs, create dashboards and reports, manage metrics and deliver useful insights.
• Lead, manage and deliver projects including outcome evaluation based on Kirkpatrick Model (Level 3 and 4) or other similar models, in a timely manner.
• Work with vendors or suppliers as part of project deliverables and day-to-day maintenance and operations.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience of at least 3 years as a Data Specialist, Data Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong insight and track record of data architecture, data warehousing, databases, and analytics tools.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and distributed systems like Hadoop, Apache Kafka and Spark.
• Experience with databases such as Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Experience with data warehouse such as Microsoft Fabric
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques
• Familiarity with cloud systems like AWS or Azure.
• Basic understanding of machine learning.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute next to Paya Lebar MRT station.
