We are seeking an Engineer (DC Inventory & Asset Technician) to join our client's Data Center team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and tracking data center inventory, assets, and ensuring proper asset lifecycle management. This role requires hands-on experience in hardware configuration, installation, maintenance, and asset tracking in a fast-paced environment. The technician will collaborate closely with other teams to ensure the efficient operation of the data center infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the inventory management of data center hardware and assets, ensuring accurate tracking of all equipment.
Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware assets such as servers, networking equipment, storage devices, and other data center infrastructure.
Manage the lifecycle of assets, including receiving, tracking, auditing, and decommissioning hardware.
Perform regular audits and inventory checks to ensure proper asset documentation and management.
Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely and accurate acquisition of hardware based on operational requirements.
Assist with asset recovery and disposal processes in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.
Maintain a clear and up-to-date record of all hardware assets, including serial numbers, model details, and asset locations.
Collaborate with other technical teams to troubleshoot hardware issues and escalate problems when necessary.
Ensure compliance with data center safety and operational procedures.
Support hardware-related troubleshooting in the data center and assist in providing solutions to ensure maximum uptime.
Maintain and update documentation related to inventory processes, hardware configurations, and asset lifecycle management.
Requirements:
Proven experience in data center operations, inventory management, and asset tracking.
Hands-on experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining data center hardware, including servers, networking equipment, and storage devices.
Strong knowledge of asset management tools and systems for tracking inventory and hardware assets.
Experience with hardware lifecycle management, including procurement, asset maintenance, and disposal.
Basic knowledge of network infrastructure and server hardware.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware-related issues.
Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with different teams within the data center.
Understanding of industry standards and best practices in asset management and data center operations.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)) are a plus.
