Maritime Electrician

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our client team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working onboard seagoing vessels in compliance with STCW standards. The role requires expertise in electrical power distribution, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in oil, gas, or chemical tankers, or offshore support vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the electrical power distribution systems onboard the vessel, ensuring all systems are operating efficiently and safely.
• Proficiently troubleshoot and diagnose faults related to electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, control systems, and HVAC (air conditioning and ventilation systems).
• Provide technical support and advice to both the shipboard team and the office-based technical team on electrical and automation systems.
• Ensure compliance with STCW standards and regulatory requirements in the maritime industry. Stay updated on the latest shipping industry regulations and legislative changes.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on electrical and automation systems, including generator sets, motors, and related electrical equipment.
• Work closely with the Chief Engineer and other team members to ensure smooth operations onboard, maintaining high technical standards in all aspects of electrical and automation systems.
• Maintain accurate records of electrical system maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting activities. Prepare reports for regulatory and company requirements.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of experience working onboard seagoing vessels as an Electrical-Technical Officer (ETO) in compliance with STCW standards.
• Strong background in oil, gas, chemical tankers, or offshore support vessels is an added advantage.
• Tertiary education in Electrical, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering Technology is highly preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of electrical power distribution systems and hands-on experience in their maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills in electrical systems, instrumentation, automation, control, and HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with the regulatory and legislative environment in the shipping industry (e.g., maritime safety regulations, IMO conventions).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating well with both the office technical team and shipboard personnel.
• Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
