The Technical Consultant (TC) is a technical role within the “Technical Consulting and Delivery” organization in Thales, responsible for supporting the Sales and Marketing team on technical matters. This includes activities across all phases of the customer journey—from the pre-sales stage to commercial delivery and after-sales support. One of the TC’s key objective is to assist in convincing business customers to adopt and purchase products by providing expert technical guidance. Acting as the key technical interface between internal teams and external customers, the TC ensures smooth integration of requirements, development, testing/validation, and product certification throughout all stages of the project.


The TC is typically assigned to one or multiple key customers, ensuring consistent and high-quality support. The Technical Consultant Director manages the TC’s coordination, regional assignments, customer dedication, and task prioritization. When necessary, these priorities may also be discussed in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing organization.


This role requires a candidate who can maintain delivery quality and foster strong customer relationships while actively promoting new solutions and products through technical expertise and excellent communication skills. The TC will engage in a broad range of technical discussions, spanning diverse topics such as industry standards, low-level embedded software and hardware technologies, application-level features, and relative solution deployment.

Responsibilities:

The Technical Consultant (TC) will serve as the technical interface for the telecommunications and relevant market business fields of the company, focusing on both devices and services, such as SIM/USIM/MIM/eSIM. This role involves working as part of a team that provides comprehensive support to customers in a dedicated region, covering corporate product and solution integration, pre-sales support, proposals, technical discussions, project management, profile development/validation, lab/field testing, and after-sales support. The main responsibilities include:


Technical Consulting and Pre-sales

  • Deliver technical presentations and provide pre-sales support to customers.
  • Offer technical training, Q&A sessions, and consulting services to customers.
  • Promote corporate product portfolios and align with industry trends to showcase value.
  • Coordinate technical proposals and identify appropriate internal support for specific customer needs.

Project Management

  • Discuss and negotiate technical requirements based on customer needs and Thales’ product capabilities.
  • Address customer inquiries by coordinating with support teams, R&D, and product marketing managers.
  • Provide regular project status updates to customers and handle change requests and issues.

Profile Development and Qualification

  • Implement and validate SIM/eSIM Electrical profiles as per customer requirement and 3GPP standard.
  • Run acceptance test on SIM card application (applet) and card operating system after R&D delivery.
  • Define data interface and configure data processing specification for SIM card personalization.
  • Manage BAP card qualification with customer.

After-sales Support

  • Perform troubleshooting when customer reports quality issue which relates to TC deliverables, including inquiry handling, log analysis, tracing, and on-site testing, to identify and resolve root causes of problems.
  • Identify solutions or workarounds and escalate internal defects in a structured manner if needed.

Requirements:

  • A Degree or Master in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology is preferred.
  • Must have experience in external customer communication. (meeting, phone call and email)
  • Good communication skills
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience in IT industry is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience of technical support position is required.
  • Experience in the following areas is a plus:
    • Smart card personalization solution
    • Smart card operating system
    • Mobile phone technology and business
    • M2M/IoT related technology and business
  • Proficient in debugging devices using lab test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and network loggers)
  • Skilled in software/hardware verification and validation, including approvals testing and interoperability testing.
  • Possess a customer-oriented mindset while maintaining a corporate perspective.
  • A fast self-learner, able to work independently and successfully complete assignments.
  • Flexible in managing multiple tasks and adapting to short-term reprioritization.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, capable of collaborating within groups and across organizational boundaries.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural/multinational environment.
