Assistant Manager, Legal and Trade Control Compliance (Japanese MNC / East)

Lead and Oversee Security Trade Control (Export Control) for the SEA Region

• Manage security trade control operations across the company.
• Oversee the notification and verification of concerned end-user lists, following up as needed.
• Handle export control processes in SAP, including material creation, classification, extension, and manufacturer confirmation; release export licenses after conducting background checks and receiving approval from HQ.
• Collaborate with the HQ Legal Export Control team to seek approval for transactions involving specific countries or military-related organizations.
• Conduct regular training and distribute security trade control information to employees, particularly sales staff, to ensure compliance with business transaction regulations.
• Prepare and submit the annual sales report to HQ, and attend Global and Asia Export Control meetings when available.

Lead, Manage, and Coordinate Legal Matters

• Oversee contract management, including reviewing contracts (NDAs, agreements, etc.) and ensuring proper handling.
• Manage legal disputes.
• Address compliance matters, such as anti-trust and anti-bribery, and provide regular legal training to affiliates in the SEA region.
• Ensure strict compliance with Personal Data Protection (PDPA) regulations, conducting regular impact assessments to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
• Perform legal audits.
• Manage internal policies and address legal issues within the affiliates.
• Act as the liaison between HQ Legal and SEA affiliates.
• Address any other compliance-related matters as needed.
