Key responsibilities of a site engineer:
Technical oversight:
Interpreting and implementing engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.Checking calculations and ensuring accuracy of measurements.
Providing technical advice to subcontractors and site workers.Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise during construction.
Site management:
Setting out the site, including leveling and surveying.
Managing the daily construction activities and work schedules.
Supervising site labor and subcontractors.Monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with project timelines.
Quality control:
Inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Implementing quality control procedures and documenting findings.Identifying and addressing quality issues.
Communication and coordination:
Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
Attending project meetings and providing updates on progress.Communicating with subcontractors regarding their work and any necessary changes.
Safety compliance:
Enforcing safety regulations on site and ensuring workers adhere to safety procedures.Identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards.
Documentation and reporting:Maintaining site records and documentation including daily reports, progress reports, and incident reports.Preparing necessary technical reports and calculations.
Required skills for a site engineer:
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and procedures
Experience with surveying equipment and software
