A part time job share opportunity has become available for a Placement Coordinator within the Faculty of Education & Humanities, working directly with our Early Years, Social Care and Healthcare teams. Whilst reporting to the Curriculum Head.
As a placement coordinator you will be responsible for managing and implementing work placements for the curricular areas of Early Years, Social Care and Healthcare, primarily with Social Care in this role. You will be a first point of contact for students and colleagues about placements; providing support, problem solving and acting on queries. This will require you to use a range of communication channels, online and via college systems, to maintain contact with students throughout the duration of their placement; to enable access to placement information for all and ensure excellent customer service. You will coordinate the continuous monitoring and review of the faculty's work placement provision and the placement experience, including reporting on and resolving student or host-related work placement problems in a timely manner.
Whilst students are on placement, you will ensure their welfare is managed appropriately and where problems arise, you will work with the relevant Curriculum Head and wider Faculty and/or College team to find the best solution for the student and the placement.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that the central database on all work placements for the relevant curricular areas, is maintained and up to date, and to ensure confidentiality in the maintenance of records and in line with GDPR. This will include supporting Curriculum Heads and other members of the administration team with the College/Faculty PVG process for those students' undertaking placements.
You will assess the suitability of the workplace provider, prior to the student commencing the work. This will include agreeing the duties the student will undertake and confirming that there are health and safety precautions and arrangements in place to be satisfied that the provider is managing any significant risks.
