Job Posting for Phlebotomist at Clevedon Medical Centre
1 Phlebotomists to join our team of Treatment Room clinicians
Tuesday - 8.30am - 16.30pm
Wednesday - 8.30am - 16.30
Thursday 8.30am - 13.00pm
Friday 8.30am - 16.30pm
Total of 25.5 hours per week
Phlebotomist responsibilities include:
Identifying patients via ID, medical record or other means
Drawing blood using the appropriate equipment and in line with current best practice
Labelling samples correctly and send them for testing
Run blood clinics
Identify patients accurately and ensure the bloods to be taken are correctly identified on the laboratory IT system
Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health etc.
Reassure patients and help them relax
Find veins that are suitable for puncture
Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials and other equipment
Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples
Fill the correct bottles, label samples correctly and send them for testing
Answer patient questions and provide useful information
Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working
Help with testing of urine samples as needed
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician
Experience with effective puncture techniques
Understanding of proper patient identification methods
Knowledge of protocols, directives and best practice regarding drawing blood, handling fluid samples and use of relevant medical equipment and material
