Purchasing Assistant

Position Summary

Responsible for the ordering of materials and supplies and follow through with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries.

Role Responsibilities

• Processing of bespoke equipment purchasing requirements (Assy’s). Selection of suitable suppliers in SAP Business 1 to fit Proline Production Plan
• Raising of weekly stock orders in SAP Business 1 and reacting to urgent ad-hoc stock requests.
• Liaising with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery / chasing of overdue deliveries
• Maintain records in relation to all purchases
• Supporting the Purchasing Manager in Group-led Cost saving initiatives.
• Agree corrective and preventative actions to be put in place to avoid issues.
• Promptly communicate with production regarding availability issues which could affect the production plan and discuss/recommend alternative solutions to the problem.
• Provide departmental cover as needed.
• Ensure Health and Safety standards are met.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Skills / Experience:

• Previous experience in an Office / Finance / Purchasing position desired.
• Experience of popular Microsoft applications – Word / Excel / Outlook.
• Good oral and written communication skills and ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Business Systems, ideally SAP would be advantageous.
• Reliability, punctuality and honesty essential along with a willingness to develop and progress.
• GCSE Level (or above). Maths and English required
• CIPS Level 3 desirable
