Job Posting for Chairperson of the Board at Dollar Community Development Trust
Our current Chairperson is stepping down and we are inviting applications from anyone interested in this important leadership role.
Reports to: Board of Trustees
Commitment: Approximately 2 days per month throughout the year.
Remuneration: The role of Chair is voluntary, although expenses for travel may be claimed.
Charity Purpose
To achieve the sustainable regeneration of a community or address a range of economic, social, environmental and cultural issues.
Our main role is to enable and support beneficial community projects. These could be in any area of interest to the community such as:
Providing Cultural, Recreational and Sporting Facilities
·Preserving the historical and architectural heritage of Dollar
Helping everyone in the community to access public services regardless of their age, gender or physical ability
Promoting local businesses to keep Dollar thriving
Objective
Holds the Executive team and the Board to account to:
– remain focussed solely on our charitable objectives
– remain compliant with all Scottish laws and the regulations of the Charity Commission.
Ensure both the Board members and volunteers closely together to achieve the agreed charitable objectives.
Act (in partnership with the Board) as an ambassador and the public face of Dollar Community Development Trust.
Charity Structure
All members of the Board are Directors and act as Trustees of Dollar Community Development Trust. There are up to 11 directors of the Trust who for reasons of clarity are called Trustees.
The Chair will be appointed for a fixed term of 3 years which can be renewed once, enabling the Chair to serve for a maximum continuous term of 6 years.
Meetings
Board meetings are held 12 times a year. Each meeting is /- 2 hours.
Board Meetings are generally held in person in the Dollar area, online or hybrid meetings are not encouraged but can be facilitated.
