At Kaleidoscope we support people with Drug, Alcohol and Mental health issues so they can have a brighter future in their communities. Substance Misuse Workers will attract, engage with and retain individuals in need of Substance Misuse intervention by offering a wide range of person-centred services. Following an assessment of need, service users will be offered time limited psychosocial interventions to enable them to achieve substance misuse related goals and sustainable positive behaviour change. Service users with complex needs will be offered a case management approach. Therapeutic interventions include Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET); Social Behaviour and Network Therapy (SBNT); Structured Relapse Prevention (SRP); Cognitive Behavioural Coping Skills Training (CBCST); and Behavioural Self Control Training (BSCT) In addition to one-to-one intervention, Substance Misuse Workers will deliver psychosocial programmes on a group basis. The role will further include the provision of detox support for drugs and alcohol; needle exchange / harm reduction-based interventions; and the delivery of aftercare programme elements. Whilst one to one work will usually be delivered on Kaleidoscope premises, domiciliary visits will be made where appropriate, with assertive outreach of hard to engage clients where this is practicable. To deliver holistic care, close working with a range of external agencies will be necessary in order to best meet each client’s needs. This will include clients who require more in-depth support, many of whom will be prescribed an opioid substitute by the Powys Prescribing Service. Substance Misuse Workers will support the delivery of a training package for non-specialist agencies at tier 1, as brief advice from non-specialist agencies will feature heavily as a primary intervention for drug and alcohol users not requiring in-depth support. The post holder should enjoy face-to-face contact with people who have recognised that their use of substances has become problematic. They will have excellent communication skills, be able to work closely with other multi-disciplinary agencies and flexibly and efficiently within a small team, to ensure services are delivered equitably and at times to suit the client. Substance Misuse Worker The post-holder will have a non-judgmental approach to people who have substance misuse problems and be able to provide a welcoming and accessible service to existing and potential service users. Individual supervision will be provided six weekly for one to two hours as required. There will be an induction period, during which training will be provided in specific areas. The post-holder will deliver high quality services, maintain high professional standards are maintained; and will work within established administrative and reporting procedures. The post-holder will be committed to continual improvement through the maintenance of the ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System, which currently runs within the Powys service.
