The Plaza Cinema in Skipton is looking for a confident independent worker to join the team as a Kiosk Attendant. You will have at least one kiosk shift each week, rotas are done on a monthly basis. Weekday shifts are in the evening during term time and all day (usually starting after 12pm) during the school holidays. Shifts usually finish between 10:30pm and 11:00pm, so it is vital that applicants ensure they have access to reliable transport options before applying. There may be potential for the successful candidate to take on a duty manager role in the future.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Manage their time effectively.
  • Productively work as part of a team and independently.
  • Deliver customer service with confidence.
  • Handle enquiries face-to-face and over the phone.
  • Operate with flexibility in order to cover for other members of staff during holidays and weekends.
  • Maintain hygiene standards regarding food handling and environmental safety.
  • Handle money with excellent attention to detail.
  • Read and manage spreadsheet material.

Tasks the successful candidate can be expected to complete will include but are not limited to:

  • Setting the kiosk up at the beginning of their shift.
  • Cleaning the cinema between films and as part of closing.
  • Serving customers on the kiosk to an excellent standard.
  • Replenishing stock throughout the shift.
  • Performing regular stock-takes.
  • Cashing up.
  • Communicating effectively with the management team.
  • Communicating extremely well with the management team.
  • Manage money effectively.

The Plaza is a quirky traditional cinema with a hundred-year history, and has proudly operated as Skipton's only picture house for over 30 years. The cinema shows a wide range of films including classics and modern releases, and often hosts external events such as local film festivals and the ever-popular Skipton Film Club. The above vacancy offers candidates a unique opportunity to become involved in a historic piece of Skipton's culture.

Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: £6.83-£11.18 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 12 per week
