Roseworth Surgery is a GP practice with 5,821 registered patients with a team of 4 Partners, 1 salaried GP, 2 practice nurses and 2 HCA supported by the management and administrative/reception team, with a CQC rating of GOOD.

As a member of Jesmond/Lower Gosforth PCN we have access to an extended team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Nurse Associates, a Paramedic/GP home visiting team and social prescribing link workers.

We are a well-established teaching practice for doctors in training and medical students.

Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a part time receptionist to join our small friendly team. The successful candidate will provide reception duties and administrative support to the medical team. As the first point of contact for patients, you must provide exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth operation within the medical practice, contributing to the overall patient experience.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist them with check-in procedures.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, and cancellations using our electronic health record system.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and handle inquiries regarding services, appointments, and patient information.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with data protection regulations.
  • Process patient registrations and insurance information efficiently.
  • Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate effective communication regarding patient needs and appointments.
  • Handle billing inquiries and assist with payment processing as required.
  • Keep the reception area organised and welcoming for patients.

Experience

  • Previous experience in an office or administrative role is preferred, ideally within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail are essential for managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with patients and staff.
  • Proficiency in using office software and electronic health record systems is advantageous.
  • A compassionate approach towards patient care is vital, along with the ability to maintain a calm demeanour in a busy environment.
