Roundwood Surgery are looking to expand their Reception team with an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to join our friendly GP Practice whose main site is in Mansfield and a branch site at Forest Town.
The role of a Medical Receptionist can at time be very demanding so we are looking for an apprentice who is confident with excellent communication skills, is organised and can multi-task.

We have approximately 13,700 registered patients, 5 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
We are a clinical training practice for junior doctors and host up to 7 Registrars and 2 Foundation Doctors.
Main Duties:
Your apprenticeship will support you to become a fully trained/qualified Medical Receptionist carrying out the following responsibilities:
- Ensure and effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
- Communicate and Support Patients/their families with their healthcare needs and enquiries through contact via the telephone system or face to face at the Practice.
- Initiate contact with and responding to requests from patient, other team members, associated healthcare professionals and providers.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Book, Cancel, Amend medical appointments with our clinicians through a computerised system in line with the Practice Policy.
- Using your own judgement and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Explain Practice arrangement and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensuring procedures are completed.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take message, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Enter requests for Home Visits into the On Call GP screen, ensuring careful recording of all relevant information and contact details.
- Process and Action repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice guidelines.
- Inform patients of private work and associated charges (non GMS work), taking payment, issuing of receipts.
- Provide support to the clinicians for the generation and emailing/posting of medical reports and private requested work.
- Computer data entry/date allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedure.
- Scanning of relevant documentation to be work flowed for appropriate action.
- Management of patient notes, retrieve and re-file records as required, ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to.
- Ensure all Lloyd George records are kept in a neat, tidy, good repair.
- Ensure that all new patients into the Practice are registered promptly and accurately.
- Providing clerical assistance using Microsoft Office as and when required, this also includes filing, photocopying and scanning.
- Ensure Reception and Waiting Areas are kept neat and tidy.
- To wear suitable clothing and shoes, after 6 months a uniform will be provided.
- Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the position as requested by the Practice Management or GP Partners.

We are looking to recruit a full-time position of 37.5hrs Monday to Friday on a rota basis between the hours of 8am and 8pm (including extended opening hours).
Annual leave entitlement is 27 days plus bank holidays.
Salary is the Apprentice Rate based on the age of the candidate.
