Job Description

  • Suffolk County Council – Endeavour House, Ipswich IP1 2BX - Hybrid
  • Paid expenses (travel/lunch or home working allowance of £10 per hearing day)
  • No guaranteed hours. As and when required (peak season April-July)
  • Voluntary

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as Independent Panel Members for School Admission Appeals in Suffolk.

This is an impactful opportunity to ensure every child has a fair chance at education.

Your Responsibilities

In your role you will need to hear appeals from parents concerning the non-admission of their child to a school. This will involve you adhering to statutory guidelines to guarantee independence, fairness, impartiality, and transparency during the appeal process.

You will need

  • to be a good listener
  • consistent availability throughout the year
  • access to Microsoft Teams and email for communication and appeal proceedings.
