Site Engineer

About the Company - SWG Group is expanding and seeks a proactive Site Engineer (employed or freelance) to support construction projects across North Wales, Shropshire, and the West Midlands.

About the Role - Accurate setting out using level, EDM, and Robotic Total Stations. Site supervision, including managing earthworks, drainage, and topographical surveys. Conducting safety inspections, identifying hazards, and developing Safe Systems of Work. Verifying subcontractors' setting out and maintaining survey equipment. Interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules. Producing detailed as-built records and completing Quality Check Sheets. Handling re-measurement, reconciliation, and budgeting tasks.

Responsibilities

• Accurate setting out using level, EDM, and Robotic Total Stations.
• Site supervision, including managing earthworks, drainage, and topographical surveys.
• Conducting safety inspections, identifying hazards, and developing Safe Systems of Work.
• Verifying subcontractors' setting out and maintaining survey equipment.
• Interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Qualifications - Holds a relevant construction/engineering degree or equivalent from a UK institution or has substantial UK-based experience.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in setting out within the UK construction sector.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and familiarity with UK construction and safety standards.
• CSCS and SMSTS certifications preferred.
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills and understanding of British construction practices.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively within dynamic teams.
