Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to join our team to support the end of life care of patients at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust by starting an 'End of Life Care Volunteer' service.
The role will be to work in partnership with the hospital Palliative Care Team to manage a dedicated team of 'End of Life Care Volunteers' to provide ongoing support to patients at the end of life, their families and carers at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Many of these patients have no other visitors at all. This role will play an important part in improving and providing quality end of life care.
To work in partnership with specialist End of Life charity, the Anne Robson Trust (1178352) to attract, recruit, train, and manage this team of 'End of Life Care Volunteers'.
The successful candidate will have a passion for improving care at the end of life, it doesn’t matter whether you are an established leader of voluntary services or new to this field. We will offer a programme of support.

Service Delivery
With support from voluntary services to attract, recruit, train, induct and retain a group of volunteers
Organise and deliver VALE training
Ensure that all mandatory training requirements of the trust are regularly updated
Working closely with the Anne Robson Trust , identify additional training requirements through an on-going training needs analysis and coordinate the delivery of relevant training to be completed at monthly team meetings on an ongoing basis
Ensure all administrative details are completed with regard to monthly meetings including liaising with VALE, booking a suitable venue, booking training session speakers, ensure minutes of the meeting are correctly taken, ensure registration is taken and ensure volunteers individual record is kept up to date regarding meeting attendance and training
To establish good working relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth running of the service
Attend End of Life Improvement Steering Group providing relevant updates and contribute to the general improvement of End of Life Services
- Liaise and establish good working relationship with Chaplaincy and bereavement services
Liaise daily with the Specialist Palliative Care Team and Ward Staff to ensure that patients who are recognized as dying are referred to the VALE service
