Head of Investment Risk

About the role In your role as Head of Investment Risk you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to provide reporting, oversight and control on investment risk at individual mandate level and in aggregate. To achieve this, the role holder is required to build, motivate and manage a team effectively and to ensure that the associated processes for analysis, challenge and reporting are fit for purpose. What you will be doing As a trusted part of the PAIR you will be responsible for: o Develop comprehensive and effective risk analysis and reporting for mandate level risk, including Private Markets investments o Deliver risk oversight and related reports regularly to the USSIM Board and USSIM ExCo, as well as other key committees as needed. o Build and manage a team that is resourced to focus on production of assurance and other reporting on risk, analysis for risk insight and value add to the business, and risk analysis and assurance for private markets investments. o Build team strength in depth with coverage for key persons within the risk function; Oversee hiring and development of staff within the team o Work with the Head of Financial Risk and the CRO to foster a healthy risk culture throughout USSIM and with the executive teams to embed the ownership and management of risk in the first line. To be successful in the role you will have: • Ability to communicate effectively in both written papers and oral presentations • Capable of both bottom up investment analytics and top down strategic thinking • High level of structure and organisation and the ability to work across teams • Excellent analytical skills – able to pick up new and challenging concepts and able to provide clear solutions • Ability to influence, to fulfil investment decisions • Capable of holistically understanding the wider investment structure and scheme needs Why join us?
