About Us:
Wirral Multicultural Organisation (WMO) is a community-focused charity that supports ethnic minorities, refugees, asylum seekers, and individuals in need of translation and interpretation services. We are seeking a freelance British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter to assist our team in facilitating communication with our service users.

Job Description:
As a Freelance British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter at WMO, you will provide interpretation services for our clients in various appointments, including one-on-one sessions, group activities, and community events. You will work closely with our team to ensure effective communication for individuals with hearing impairments.

Responsibilities:

• Provide BSL interpretation for clients during appointments and activities
• Facilitate clear communication between service users and professionals
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Adhere to WMO’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and data protection guidelines
• Provide timely and accurate feedback on services rendered

Requirements:

• Certified British Sign Language (BSL) qualification (Level 2 minimum)
• Experience in providing BSL interpretation in professional settings (experience in a multicultural or charity environment is a plus)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different situations
• Must be based on the Wirral or able to commute easily to locations within the Wirral area
• Flexibility to work on a freelance basis, with availability for appointments during weekdays and occasional evenings

Desirable:

• Experience in interpreting for diverse communities
• Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage
