This is a brand new and exciting role! We are looking to recruit a Volunteer Coordinator to support our current volunteering functions across our very busy charity. Woodside Animal Centre would not be able to achieve its strategic goals without the ongoing support of their existing volunteers, our volunteers support all operations from providing animal care, dog walking, fundraising, supporting our many admin functions and our pet & charity shops.

In this role you'll liaise with managers, team leaders and existing volunteers. You will be engaging with the community sharing and highlighting volunteering opportunities.

Job Purpose

The Volunteer Coordinator will provide expertise and coordination of the volunteer function delivering outstanding aspects for Woodside RSPCA Leicestershire, Peterborough and Rutland.

Striving not only to maintain but to also drive and go beyond compliance expectations, both internally and externally, to ensure that not only are our values upheld but that we are compliant in everything that we do.

Whilst ensuring that our animals are the focus of our service, the post holder will continually review, maintain, and improve where necessary to uphold the charity’s high standards and ensure that all levels of the charity are maintaining and working within current regulations and guidelines set out for the charity.

Role Responsibilities

· Coordination of the development and delivery of the volunteer function across woodside, ensuring compliance with induction, training and provide supervision

· Engage and recruit volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities

· Create avenues of effective two way feedback and communication.

  • Develop retention practices to ensure volunteers feel valued, included and informed.
  • Lead on and support other staff and volunteers in organising volunteer socials, training and networking events.
  • Keep records of regular volunteers where appropriate and in accordance with GDPR, health and safety and organisational wide policies and procedures.
  • Carry out regular evaluations of volunteers’ experiences through a variety of mechanisms.
  • Build external relationships and partnerships to engage new volunteering opportunities
  • Develop and roll out effective policies and procedures for volunteering across Woodside
  • Support Line managers with managing volunteers, offering guidance and best practice

  • Ensuring the organisation has robust GDPR (data protection), safeguarding guidelines and legal/Woodside/RSPCA Society regulations/policies and assurance framework in place.

Person Specification

· Ability to engage, nurture and enthuse.

· Controlled: in an environment where no day is the same, you will be calm and able to respond in a crisis.

· Excellent written, and verbal communication skills

· Ability to multitask.

· Excellent understanding of all Microsoft office packages and ability to pick up and use on-line volunteer management systems on a day to day basis.

· Interpersonal skills.

· Time Management

· Committed to own professional development.

· Ability to build external relationships
