Compliance Officer

Our client, a well-established and regulated player in the financial sector, is currently looking for a Compliance Officer to strengthen their compliance and regulatory affairs team in Brussels. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who is passionate about ethics, regulatory frameworks, and financial integrity.

Job Description

• Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies (e.g., MiFID II, AML, GDPR).
• Advise management and departments on regulatory risks and compliance requirements.
• Conduct internal compliance checks and assist in audits and regulatory inspections.
• Develop, update, and implement compliance procedures and internal controls.
• Deliver training and awareness sessions to staff on compliance-related topics.
• Follow up on suspicious activities and ensure proper escalation and reporting (e.g., AML alerts, conflict of interest).
• Liaise with legal teams, regulators, and external auditors when necessary.
• Maintain documentation and compliance registers in line with regulatory expectations.

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in a compliance or legal function within the financial sector (banking, asset management, insurance, etc.).
• Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance frameworks.
• High level of integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English (mandatory) and in either French or Dutch (spoken and written).
• Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively across departments.
• Familiarity with compliance tools and regulatory reporting systems is a plus.
