Credit Risk Officer

Our client, a reputable player in the banking sector, is currently looking for a Credit Risk Officer to join their risk management team in Brussels. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of credit risk within financial institutions.

Job Description

• Assess the creditworthiness of corporate and retail clients, including financial statement analysis and risk rating assignment.
• Prepare and present credit proposals for internal approval committees.
• Monitor the credit portfolio to identify potential risks and ensure compliance with internal risk policies and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of credit risk models, scoring systems, and limit frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with front-office teams, compliance, legal, and other risk functions.
• Participate in the periodic review and stress-testing of credit portfolios.
• Support the implementation of risk-related projects and regulatory initiatives (e.g., Basel III/IV, EBA guidelines).
• Maintain thorough documentation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a credit risk or credit analysis role, preferably in the banking sector.
• Solid knowledge of financial analysis, credit risk principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficient in risk assessment tools, Excel, and ideally exposure to risk systems or data analysis tools.
• Fluent in English (mandatory) and in either French or Dutch.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with great attention to detail.
• Clear communicator, able to present complex information in a structured and concise manner.
• Team player with a proactive, hands-on attitude.
