POLITICO is seeking a social media intern to join our global audience team for a minimum of three months, starting in March 2025. This is a hands-on opportunity to help shape how we engage with our audience off-platform, and to develop a baseline set of audience development skills in a newsroom.
POLITICO is a pioneering and growing media company that covers the politics, policy and personalities of the European Union, with journalists in Brussels, London, Paris and Berlin.
What You'll Do:
- Write and schedule social posts to amplify the reach and impact of our journalism
- Work with the audience and wider editorial teams to help plan and implement social media coverage
- Create visuals to promote our journalism on social media
- Write SEO-friendly headlines, eye-catching podcast titles and engaging social-specific content (IG Stories, threads etc.)
- Analyze data to deliver insights on our social media coverage
What You'll Need:
- Excellent writing skills and impeccable attention to detail
- Strong understanding of major social platforms (X, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- A strong visual eye and knowledge of the Adobe suite (namely Photoshop)
- Solid news judgement and a keen interest in political journalism and digital storytelling
- Ability to craft social copy in POLITICO’s signature voice
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- An interest in or experience analyzing data to draw insights (relevant tools: Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics or analytics tools offered by social platforms)
- An interest or experience with SEO and reading Google Trends
