We are currently looking for dedicated and caring individuals to fill the following positions:
Recreation Assistant: Full time
Summary:
Responsible for supervising individuals during various outings and activities in the community. Assists the individuals to actively participate in events, provides transportation, provide routine care to group home participants. Assists the management team and supervisory personnel in the implementation of quality programs by working cooperatively under assigned duties and reporting critical information to a supervisor in accordance with established procedures. Upholds agency and licensing regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead recreational and educational activities.
- Maximize opportunities for community inclusion; assisting in the development of community resources that meet the needs, interests and abilities of individuals.
- Act as a role model for social and work behaviors within activities and within community experiences.
- Create, update, and manage a Recreation Activities Calendar.
- Coordinate, plan, and purchase any supplies needed for any scheduled activity.
- Plan indoor/outdoor activities for individuals.
- Promote a safe environment in all service settings; consistently applying universal precautions; informing supervisors and all relevant parties of safety issues.
- Communicate information objectively and clearly in the English language with written and verbal reports as well as the ECR (Electronic Care Record).
- Effective communicating significant information regarding the Program and individuals served both verbally and in writing; including in the ECR (electronic care record) and CIL (critical information log).
- Implement Individual Service Plan (ISP) to maximize the self-sufficiency of individuals and other individual recommendations as directed; implementing appropriate outcomes as well as strategies to promote the independence of individuals; observing individuals and report on their performance; including in the ECR (Electronic Care Record).
- Implement Operational, Personnel Policies and Procedures according to Twenty-One Plus, Division of Developmental Disabilities, Dept. of Labor, Office of Licensing and any other regulatory authority.
- Attend and participating in agency meetings as directed.
- Attend ongoing professional training as directed or required including, but not limited to DDD requirements.
- Properly maintain the agency vehicles and promptly reporting any safety issues.
- Advocate on behalf of program individuals.
- Flexible schedule with evenings and weekends required.

You must be able to pass all background checks including: Drug screen, physical, PPD, fingerprints, DMV.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED (Verifiable)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- A valid NJ driver's license with an acceptable record of safe driving
- Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with persons with developmental disabilities; provide direct program services to persons with developmental disabilities; determine the needs and abilities of persons served; solve problems systematically; communicate using resourcefulness and tact.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.51 - $21.01 per hour
