What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Development Associate position at 2253 Apparel, Inc.?
The ideal candidate for the Product Development Associate will be an integral team member of the pre-production / product development team at 2253 Apparel Co. They will be the link working closely with our men's division while maintaining a steady connection with our women's lines. The Product Development Associate will be a point person for the cross functional team’s communication regarding development styles. That person will be a liaison of information and knowledge regarding the development process and all the pieces that go into line creation. Both design and technical backgrounds are utilized for this position.
Responsibilities
- Work closely w/ the design and sales to create technical sketches inclusive of construction details and other functional information.
- Offer alternative construction or other suggestions to improve a style’s cost efficiency while maintaining the integrity of the design intent.
- Create detailed tech packs in PLM which includes, but not limited to basic BOM setup, construction detail pages, and measurement pages.
- Upkeep grade rule integrity between the different labels and lines.
- Initiate and maintain development WIP with the internal teams as well as the factory vendors to ensure deadlines are met.
- Manage style initial costing and analyze style request to sample costing for target price point keeping in mind fabric & trim costs, yield, construction, etc.
- Attend style hand-off meetings & work with design & sales to create samples for submission per buyer requests for each season
- Make sketch adjustments of revisions / changes. Resend updates to cross-functional team & factory if applicable.
- Develop a relationship and line of communication w/ the factories to be able to follow-up and submit sample requests.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Fashion Design, Product Development (Apparel), or Apparel Manufacturing
- At least 5 years of working experience in a design, product development, or technical design position.
- Working knowledge and know-how w/ Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
- Fabric & wash background experience is plus
- Eagerness to learn and thrive
- Open & positive attitude to help where needed in other areas of the design team
- Able to lift at least 15lbs while on the job (fit forms)
This role will report directly to the Senior Manager of Pre-Production & Product Development, and will hold a spot on the Product Development team at 2253 Apparel Inc.
