We are seeking a compassionate, bilingual and detail-oriented Back Office Medical Assistant to join our pediatric optometry team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a medical office environment and a passion for providing high-quality care to children. In this role, you will support the optometrist and ensure smooth operations of the office while delivering exceptional service to our young patients and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist with taking patient histories, obtaining vital signs, and preparing patients for exams. Work closely with pediatric patients, making them feel comfortable and at ease.
- Medical Testing: Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, eye pressure, and color vision tests. Set up and assist with diagnostic equipment like autorefractors, tonometers, and retinoscopes.
- Rooming Patients: Prepare exam rooms for the optometrist, ensuring all necessary instruments and charts are ready. Ensure cleanliness and organization of exam areas.
- Patient Education: Explain procedures and treatments to patients and their families, ensuring they understand the process and feel confident in the care they will receive.
- Medical Records: Accurately document patient information confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, confirming appointments, and coordinating referrals. Answer phone calls and direct patients as needed.
- Stocking and Supplies: Ensure back office is stocked with necessary medical supplies and equipment. Perform basic inventory management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the optometrists, front office team, and other medical staff to provide excellent care and an efficient patient experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
