What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life Skill Instructor Young Adult Services position at Ability Beyond?
Corbin is an all-female group home; staff at Corbin receive a specific trauma informed therapy training. That with a routine structure, provides a safe, predictable setting for addressing problems and developing new skills.
- You’ll work directly with each young adult, providing behavioral support, healthy stress management skills and teaching everyday life skills for independence in the community.
- Typical documentation, both electronic and written of daily life skills, track target behaviors, and complete shift summaries at the end of each shift if required
- You may need to transport individuals to vocational, volunteer, or work programs. LSI will also provide transportation to home visits and medical/therapy appointments, this may require use of your personal vehicle at times.
- You will help teach and maintain the cleanliness each apartment and organizing their rooms.
- You will help teach creating a weekly grocery shopping list and take them to the grocery store. LSI’s provide education on healthy eating and saving money (with the use of coupons).
- You will take young adults to the YMCA several times each week and educate about healthy living habits and exercise, you may engage in the activities with the individuals and supervision is maintained
- You will take the young adults on fun activities such as Lake Compounce, museums, fairs/festivals, etc. Please have fun, enjoy being out with them. They are learning appropriate behavior in the community
- You will engage in arts/crafts drawing, play board games, cards, sports, etc. with the young adults, what a great way to trigger a therapeutic conversation.
